Yasmine has over 25 years of experience in the legal field. Yasmine matriculated in 1988 and commenced her legal studies in 1990. She obtained her BA (LAW) degree at the University of the Western Cape in 1993 and furthered her studies at the Rand Afrikaans University where she obtained her LLB degree in 1996. She also obtained an Advanced Diploma in Labour Law at the Rand Afrikaans University in 1999.
Yasmine started off her career at Van Branden Attorneys, where she completed one year of articles however due the firm relocating tot he Western Cape, she accepted a position at the Roodepoort Magistrates Court as a public prosecutor between between the period 1997 – 1999.
Yasmine started her employ as legal advisor at a company called Care Assist between the periods (1999 – 2001). She then joined the firm Louw and Heyl Attorneys where she completed her articles gaining extensive experience in Magistrate and High Court litigation. Yasmine was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court in 2002.
Yasmine started her own firm in 2002 and later entered into a partnership which saw the formation of Botha Tonkin Johnson Incorporated in 2005. She was head of the litigation department. The firm dissolved in 2013, which saw the formation of Y Johnson Incorporated. Whilst practicing she also assisted the Roodepoort Magistrates Court for eight months as an Acting Magistrate in the Civil Court. She is also an arbitrator for Tokiso Dispute Settlement Pty Ltd, a mediation and arbitration company, where she arbitrates on insurance matters, more specifically on the law of motor vehicle collisions.
Yasmine has extensive experience in the law of litigation, and specialises in all areas of High Court litigation where she acts on behalf of some of the major banks in South Africa.
